Parker is privately held and founded by Richard Parker, an American journalist, commentator and publishing executive.
He writes a column syndicated by McClatchy-Tribune to 400 newspapers. He is the former associate publisher of The New Republic.
Having held posts in the newsroom and the business suite, he is an advisor to major media. These include the Times Publishing Co.'s Congressional Quarterly and Governing, Cygnus Business Media and units of News Corp. and CanWest, Canada's largest media company.
An award-winning correspondent with Knight-Ridder, Parker covered American politics and government, and war in Latin America, the Persian Gulf and the Balkans. He is a repeat winner of the Associated Press Managing Editors' Award, the E.H. Schaeffer Award, was a Knight Fellow and a finalist for the Livingston Award. He worked for many years for the Pulitzer Prize-winning Albuquerque Journal and has twice been the visiting professional in journalism at the University of Texas.
He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Trinity University and a master's degree from Tulane University. He is a graduate, also, of the U.S. Army ROTC Leaders Training Course and the Boulder Outdoor School of Survival. He has two daughters, Olivia and Isabel, and is at work on a book.
